Home Run Daddy!

I was told I NEEDED to do this post today...

Last week in Jon's Father's Day post, I mentioned that Dylan loves to watch Daddy hit home runs. That night, we went out to the Rec Center for the church softball game. Because Dylan was so busy playing, we only saw Jon hit once. Dylan walked up to the fence, yelled "Home run, Daddy", and saw Jon's home run hit to end the game!

So, let's do it again tonight!

Swimming

We finally went to "our new pool"! It was another hot day and Jon decided to stay home with us instead of playing softball. It took a little while to convince Dylan that swimming in the "big pool" would be more fun than playing with Daddy's tools, but, as you can see, he was glad we came! He must be almost 2, because he even had a fit when it was time to leave! It will be a nice place to play on hot days this summer!

I'm going to try to post a few of Dylan's most recent videos for you. They make us laugh, so why not make you laugh a little too! I tried without much success this weekend, so hopefully this will go better. I'm still learning...

Goodbye

Friday was a day of goodbye flights. Kerin, Jon's sister, flew off to Japan for a year (or more) to teach English and my parents headed to Rehoboth, NM for 10 days to head up a service project through church. Dylan and I were able to bring my parents to the airport. Dylan loved watching the planes loading up and leaving. We even saw the fuel truck! He misses each of you and has told me each morning that Aunt Kerin is in Japan and Grandpa & Grandma are in Rehoboth. Hope you're each enjoying your time and we miss you already!

Well Actually...

This morning while we were getting ready for Austin to come over, I asked Dylan to bring Austin's diapers upstairs for me. Here's our conversation...

"Dylan, can you carry Austin's diapers upstairs?"
"These actually diapers for Dylan."
"Oh, really," I said.
"Actually Dylan's diapers," he said back.

Well, duh! The funny things that come out of his mouth!

We miss you Bob & Nancy!

Dylan has adjusted well to the move, except that he misses our great neighbors Bob and Nancy! He had fun with them. (I think they had just as much fun with him too!) Here are a few pictures of his favorite times. We miss you guys!

Happy Father's Day! Thank you for being a great Daddy and always loving me and playing with me. I love to wrestle with you, mow the lawn, watch you hit home runs at the ball field, and just play around with you. You're the best! Hope you had a great day!

What's new with the Meengs'?

A lot has happened with us in the last few months! We've been pretty busy, so here's a quick update:

Jon has been coaching varsity baseball at Calvin Christian. He is a great coach and has had many great times with the guys. He's been gone every night between practices and games, so Dylan & I have missed him. Although we do love going to the games to watch Daddy! Dylan always asks for popcorn at the concession stand, and of course always gets a free cup from the moms! The team did great this year, but lost in the regional finals. Now we are looking forward to next year's season.

We also decided to sell our house in the midst of the chaos! We had been thinking about it for a while, and just decided to do it. Since there were seven houses for sale on our street, we thought it would take quite a while. We were wrong! After 5 days on the market, we had an offer! That sale fell through, but 3 days later, we had another offer! So, after 12 days on the market, our house was SOLD! We moved last weekend and are now living in a condo because we have not found a house. We are fortunate to have such a nice place! The 60" TV in our "master suite" is a little overboard, but Jon is finally enjoying the Tigers games on cable! We were out looking at houses again tonight... but we haven't seen THE house yet. We'll keep looking!

And on top of all that excitement, we found out that Dylan was going to be a big brother! We're due on December 10, which is 5 days after Jon's brother and sister-in-law! We are going to have a busy Christmas this year. I've been feeling great, a little tired, but what do I expect with packing and running after Dylan all day long! Dylan seems to understand, in his almost 2 year old kind of understanding. A couple weeks ago he asked me where the baby was and I told him in Mommy's tummy. He then thought for a minute and answered, "Hmmm, must be eating lunch." Then a few days later at the dinner table he lifted his shirt up to look at his belly and said, "Baby in there!" I sure hope not! He hasn't said much lately, so we'll see how he reacts to my growing belly. Dylan is so funny that we're excited to see what comes out of this one's mouth!

Yeah... we started one too!

So, the Jon Meengs Family has finally started a blog! This is for our sisters, Kerin and Amy (& don't forget Reed), who live far away and miss seeing Dylan's silly face and hearing about our crazy adventures with him! I'm maybe not so good about calling, so I'll try to make it up here! This is also for all those other family and friends of ours who are in love with Dylan & his new baby brother or sister as much as we are! Hope you enjoy hearing about and seeing a part of our lives!
