Bag Mania

I think the spring weather is getting to me. I've had this "creating/sewing" bug. Last week, I made a nuring cover (or "hooter hider" as we like to call it) for a friend of mine, then the insanity began.

A group of friends are getting ready to do some outlet shopping in a few weeks. As I was thinking about this, I remembered that I HATE all the bags I bring home. Now, I LOVE the contents of those bags, but never know what to do with the bags when I get home. I just can't seem to throw them away. They are so nice... in great shape... what if I need them someday... So I end up sticking them in the closet intending to use them later, but never do! I bet I have 30 of them in the closet right now! :)

The thought came to me to make a bag. And so my internet search of blogs, websites, tutorials and all things sewing began. I found a few pictures of bags I thought would work then made a pattern, headed to the fabric store, and began creating! Here's my first creation--

I love it! I took it on a trial run to a second-hand sale this weekend. Good thing, it is MUCH too small to put all my future purchases in it! So, I made a new pattern and made this--

Love it too!! And it is just the right size! I'm sure Jon is hoping that I don't put too much in it. :) I can't wait to go shopping now...


Do you like them? If you'd like one, let me know. Maybe we can work something out. The small one is great for a large purse/bag or even a great diaper bag, as I could add some extra large pockets. The large one is good for shopping, or maybe a beach bag, or just something to lug around all our kids junk! Mother's Day, baby gift, just for you? Maybe I can make some extra $$ to spend shopping! :)

Favorite Foods

Hannah is a great little eater. She loves almost anything that we plop down in front of her. This weekend, we found two of her newest favorite foods... spaghetti with meatballs and brownie sundaes! Yum! Can you blame her?!? She has asked for spaghetti for almost every meal. Then on Sunday, she was sharing Grandma's sundae, but I'm pretty sure Grandma didn't get much!

How wonderful to have two kids who are not picky eaters! Enjoy your supper. Maybe we'll have spaghetti and brownies again!

Butterflies!

Last Friday, Grandma brought us to see the butterflies at the Meijer Gardens. It was cold, so we didn't get outside to the Children's Garden, but the sun was shining so the butterflies were very active!

Dylan really wanted one to land on his finger, but Grandma got one instead. He enjoyed watching them for about 15 minutes, then was done! I think he would have had more fun if we could have gone outside.

Hannah wasn't so sure of them. She wanted to be held most of the time. She did like watching them. Maybe when we go back, she'll enjoy them more.

Being Outside

Dylan and Hannah have loved being outside in this sunny and (sometimes) warm weather. We are looking forward to summer!

Birthday Parties

NOTE: This is a true story. Ages have been changes to protect the innocent... maybe :)

So, did you know that each time you have a birthday party, you are 1 year older?

On February 27, Jon's Dad had his 60th Birthday. They babysat Dylan and Hannah that night since we were out of town, so they had a little party with birthday hats, noisemakers, cupcakes, and candles. A week later, the whole family got together to celebrate. Dylan and Grandma had a conversation about the party.

Grandma: "Dylan, did you know you are coming over here tonight to celebrate Grandpa's birthday with Chloe & Julia?"

Dylan: "Really? Are we going to have a party?"

Grandma: "Yup."

Dylan: "Whoa! Now Grandpa's 61 years old!"

Good thing life is not like that! Dylan would be like 15 years old already! Here are some pictures of Grandpa, Chloe, Julia, and Dylan enjoying the candles on the his cake.

The Things We Hear

Our kids are chatterboxes! Sometimes too much... :) but most of the time we love listening to the funny things that come out of their mouths.

How amazing it is that these little brains have grown so much in such a short time! What a miracle! :)
